When a foreigner
is hired to work in HainanChinaor has set up his own company to work in HainanChina, he is required to obtain
work visa. The first step for work visa is getting Z Visa.
Documents needed for Z visa (work visa)

Valid
passport: The passport must be valid and real and should have at least 6 months
validity and there should be at least two blank visa pages in the passport.

Visa validity period and duration of stay
Z visa is valid for only one single entry from overseas into mainlandChinaand three
months. The duration of stay is stated as "000 days". The holder of
the (Z) visa should go to the local public security department within thirty
days after the entry intoChinaand convert the visa into a resident permit, which functions as a
"temporary green card" and allows for unlimited entry/exit.
Next steps after Z Visa
1. Applying for work permit card: After the
application entersChinawith Z Visa, we shall go ahead to apply for the work permit card for the
applicant. The entry record must be shown in the passport. That is to say,
e-channel of entry is not available.
2. Applying for resident permit: When the
application obtains the work permit card, we will apply for resident permit in
the Hainan Immigration Office. The original passport of the application will be
submitted to the Immigration Office with the other materials.
