A Hainan modern agriculture and internet industry promotional show was held on May 9 in Tel Aviv, a coastal city in Israel.
The economic development status and policies of Hainan were shown in a publicity video introduced by the Hainan Provincial Department of Commerce, officials of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), and representatives of agricultural and internet enterprises.
Cheng Yuan, deputy head of the Hainan Provincial Department of Commerce, stated that on this, the department officials' first visit to Israel, they not only participated in a local international agri-tech expo, but also held a Hainan promotional event seeking corporation partnerships and greater impetus in economic and trade development for both Hainan and Israel. She also stated that Israel enjoys a high reputation in agricultural technology, and Hainan could benefit a lot from Israeli experience in promoting its own agricultural development with the help of technology, especially in modern and highly-effective tropical agriculture.
The application of Israel technology in irrigation and fertilization systems helps to economize manpower, water and fertilizer, and improves overall working efficiency. Beijing Xinfadi Agricultural Products Co, making good use of this technology, has been named as the largest fruit and vegetable wholesale market in Asia for 15 consecutive years.
Hainan has been encouraged to establish a pilot free trade zone with the support of the Party central committee, declared by president Xi in April at the 30th anniversary ceremony of the establishment of Hainan province and the special economic zone. Cheng stated that with its great ecological environment, and the attractions of the policy, Hainan now boasts a huge opportunity to develop into a place where fair market competitiveness is evident, all areas are fully opened and enterprises from around the world arrive for investment and tourism.
