158 foreign-invested enterprises established in Sanya in 2020

More and more foreign-invested enterprises are taking advantage of the preferential policies of the Hainan Free Trade Port, and choosing to invest in Sanya in order to accelerate the process of globalization and transformation. In 2020, 158 foreign-invested enterprises were established in Sanya, a year-on-year growth of 163%. These include 13 foreign-invested enterprises, each with a total investment of over 20 million USD, including several of the world’s top 500 enterprises such as Yum! Brands and the Rio Tinto Group.

In 2020 Sanya’s foreign investment came from 29 countries and regions including Singapore, the United States, the United Kingdom, and Japan, with utilized investment increasing by 18% year-on-year. Additionally, several large Mainland enterprises chose to locate their overseas headquarters in Sanya. For example, the Hengli Group, one of the world’s top 500 enterprises, has set up comprehensive headquarters in Sanya. At the same time, foreign investment also extended to the headquarters economy, business services, information technology services, culture, sports & entertainment, scientific research and the technology services industry.

Currently, Sanya is in talks with another 20 potential foreign-invested enterprises in the fields of duty-free shopping, yacht cruising, cultural tourism, trade logistics, intermediary services, high-technology, and more.
